These locations were explored using an underwater camera because their habitat types were unknown. They were collected between 10/23-10/31/12, and used to train a machine learning algorithm to classify seafloor features and develop a benthic habitat map for Fish Bay, Coral Bay and the St. Thomas East End Reserve (STEER) in the U.S. Virgin Islands.\r\n \r\n \r\n The primary purpose of this dataset was to support the development of a benthic habitat map for Fish Bay, Coral Bay, St. John and the St. Thomas East End Reserve (STEER), St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands (USVI). Habitat maps provide a spatially explicit representation of benthic structure and biological cover.
