The Vermont Mobile Wireless Drive Test Program is an initiative led by the Division of Telecommunications and Connectivity at the Vermont Department of Public Service to evaluate the availability and performance of mobile voice and data service along roadways in Vermont.
The program involves a \\u201ctest-kit\\u201d consisting of consumer grade cell phones and specialized software to capture a real-world user experience. The software records mobile service availability, broadband speeds, and voice call completion. The collected data identifies areas where coverage is available, as well as areas where service is unreliable or non-existent.
Please note the Drive Test results capture a \\\"snapshot\\\" in time and may not reflect the current conditions.
This point feature layer features data collected from individual voice call tests conducted in 2024 and 2025. The data was collected for four mobile service providers in the State of Vermont: ATT, FirstNet, T-Mobile, and Verizon.
The test data includes results from each attempted test collected during the program and includes the following attributes:
Vendor - name of mobile service provider tested; includes ATT, FirstNet, T-Mobile, Verizon, and Combined values
Result - a descriptive text summary of the results of each test
Call_type - Type of call scenario (Mobile Origination or Mobile Termination)
Technology - Cellular technology generation used at the time of test (4G, 5GNR, etc.)
Start_time - Timestamp for the beginning of each call iteration
End_time - Timestamp for end of each call iteration
Traffic_time - Elapsed duration while UE was in active traffic exchange with the network for each test iteration
Tsetup_time - Elapsed time to connect call once network connection is established
Setup_time - Elapsed time for UE to establish connection with mobile network
Latitude - Latitude associated with measurement location
Longitude - Longitude associated with measurement location
