The primary risk classifications used are the 1-percent annual chance flood event, the 0.2-percent annual chance flood event, and areas of minimal flood risk. The Floodplain Mapping flood risk boundaries are derived from the engineering information Flood Insurance Studies (FISs), previously published Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs), flood hazard analyses performed in support of the FISs and FIRMs, and new mapping data. The FISs and FIRMs are published by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
\r\n <purpose>The objective of the Floodplain Mapping data submission is to archive the flood boundary data in a database such that it can be revised and used with minimum effort in future flood insurance studies or map revisions. Likewise flood elevations at the confluence of streams studied independently are checked to ensure agreement at the confluence. The FIRM and the FIS are developed together and care is taken to ensure that the elevations and other features shown on the flood profiles in the FIS agree with the information shown on the FIRM. However, the elevations as shown on the FIRM are rounded whole-foot elevations. They must be shown so that a profile recreated from elevations on the FIRM will match the FIS profiles within one half of one foot. Line work was checked against base map aerial photography and USGS 7.5-minute quadrangles. Topology modeled the interaction between the flood hazard line, flood hazard area, cross section, and base flood elevation feature classes.</logic>\r\n <complete>Data contained in the Floodplain Mapping files reflect the content of the source materials. Polygons were created from the flood hazard lines and topology was checked for flood hazard lines and flood hazard areas.</procdesc>\r\n <procdate>20080102</procdate>\r\n </procstep>\r\n <procstep>\r\n <procdesc>This submission contains a cross section agreement table that checks floodway widths at cross sections and profile baseline lengths, updated FIS profiles, floodway data tables, vertical datum conversion spreadsheet, and mapping database.</procdesc>\r\n <procdate>20080605</procdate>\r\n </procstep>\r\n </lineage>\r\n </dataqual>\r\n <spref>\r\n <horizsys>\r\n <planar>\r\n <gridsys>\r\n <gridsysn>Universal Transverse Mercator</gridsysn>\r\n <utm>\r\n <utmzone>10</utmzone>\r\n <transmer>\r\n <sfctrmer>0.999600</sfctrmer>\r\n <longcm>-123.000000</longcm>\r\n <latprjo>0.000000</latprjo>\r\n <feast>500000.000000</feast>\r\n <fnorth>0.000000</fnorth>\r\n </transmer>\r\n </utm>\r\n </gridsys>\r\n <planci>\r\n <plance>coordinate pair</plance>\r\n <coordrep>\r\n <absres>0.000128</absres>\r\n <ordres>0.000128</ordres>\r\n </coordrep>\r\n <plandu>meters</plandu>\r\n </planci>\r\n </planar>\r\n <geodetic>\r\n <horizdn>North American Datum of 1983</horizdn>\r\n <ellips>Geodetic Reference System 80</ellips>\r\n <semiaxis>6378137.000000</semiaxis>\r\n <denflat>298.257222</denflat>\r\n </geodetic>\r\n </horizsys>\r\n <vertdef>\r\n <altsys>\r\n <altdatum>North American Vertical Datum of 1988</altdatum>\r\n <altres>0.000001</altres>\r\n <altunits>feet</altunits>\r\n <altenc>Explicit elevation coordinate included with horizontal coordinates</altenc>\r\n </altsys>\r\n </vertdef>\r\n </spref>\r\n <eainfo>\r\n <detailed>\r\n <enttyp>\r\n <enttypl>S_BFE</enttypl>\r\n <enttypd>Location and attributes for base flood elevations lines shown on DFIRM</enttypd>\r\n <enttypds>FEMA Guidelines and Specifications for Flood Hazard Mapping Partners, Appendix L: Guidance for Preparing Draft Digital Data and DFIRM Databases (available at http://www.fema.gov/fhm/dl_cgs.shtm).</enttypds>\r\n </enttyp>\r\n </detailed>\r\n <detailed>\r\n <enttyp>\r\n <enttypl>S_FLD_HAZ_LN</enttypl>\r\n <enttypd>Location and attributes for boundaries of flood insurance rixk zones on the DFIRM</enttypd>\r\n <enttypds>FEMA Guidelines and Specifications for Flood Hazard Mapping Partners, Appendix L: Guidance for Preparing Draft Digital Data and DFIRM Databases (available at http://www.fema.gov/fhm/dl_cgs.shtm).</enttypds>\r\n </enttyp>\r\n </detailed>\r\n <detailed>\r\n <enttyp>\r\n <enttypl>S_XS</enttypl>\r\n <enttypd>Location and attributes for cross-section lines in the area covered by the DFIRM</enttypd>\r\n <enttypds>FEMA Guidelines and Specifications for Flood Hazard Mapping Partners, Appendix L: Guidance for Preparing Draft Digital Data and DFIRM Databases (available at http://www.fema.gov/fhm/dl_cgs.shtm).</enttypds>\r\n </enttyp>\r\n </detailed>\r\n <detailed>\r\n <enttyp>\r\n <enttypl>S_FLD_HAZ_AR</enttypl>\r\n <enttypd>Location and attributes for flood insurance risk zones shown on the DFIRM</enttypd>\r\n <enttypds>FEMA Guidelines and Specifications for Flood Hazard Mapping Partners, Appendix L: Guidance for Preparing Draft Digital Data and DFIRM Databases (available at http://www.fema.gov/fhm/dl_cgs.shtm).</enttypds>\r\n </enttyp>\r\n </detailed>\r\n <overview>\r\n <eaover>The Floodplain Mapping datasets contain both spatial and attribute information.
